I’M NOT A CAT

One thing is sure: I’m not a cat;
I’ve no desire to chase a rat;
I have no tail or coat of fur;
Yet, when you’re near I purr, purr, purr.

I’m like a cat to one extent:
This thing I do when I’m content—
It may sound funny, but it’s true—
I purr, purr, purr when I’m with you.

I hate catnip; I don’t meow;
Still, to me, it’s amazing how
Something deep inside me you stir
That always makes me purr, purr, purr.

I don’t lap milk; I have no fleas;
I have no claws for climbing trees;
I’m no cat, but when you’re around,
I make a purr, purr, purring sound
