     Dorothy Lucille Williams Schwend
SCHWEND Dorothy Lucille Williams Schwend, 82, of Callahan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. She and her husband, Earl J. Schwend, had recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Earl's favorite saying was "Isle of View, Dottie." Together, they pioneered the Church of the Nazarene in Monroe, WI in the 50's and started the Callahan Assembly of God in 1972 as a result of the weekly "Teen Time" held in their old barn, sharing Jesus with the local teens. She was a Sunday School teacher and WM leader for many years and she and Earl sang duets in church. Dorothy was the oldest of 14 children and was preceded in death by 5 siblings, James (Buddy) Williams, Gloria Canaday, Lavonne Webb, Dan Williams and William (Bill) Williams. She was also preceded by her parents, James (Jimmy) Williams and Annie Bell Clark Williams. Dorothy is survived by her adoring husband, Earl Schwend and her 7 loving children and their spouses, Donald and Margaret Schwend, Connie and Homer Webb, Ronald and Dale Schwend, Bonnie and Dick Follis, Linda and Charlie Gressman, Karen and Stan Conner, and Paul and Brenda Schwend, 16 grandchildren, 17 grea -grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild and 2 great grandbabies on the way. She is survived by her 8 siblings, Ruby Sheets, Wanda Smith, Raymond Williams, Rod Williams, Glenda Chism, Martha Pless, Jerry Williams and Terry Williams. She is also survived by 2 special friends, Chuck Brown and BeBe Jordan. Dorothy enjoyed hearing Earl play his harmonica for her and playing her favorite song, "You Are My Sunshine." One of her greatest pleasures was working in her yard and mowing her grass. She painted a bedroom with 12-foot ceilings at the age of 75. The old saying, "They don't make 'em like that anymore" applied to her. Our Mom never met a stranger and was a friend to ALL. She lived in Callahan as a young girl and felt so blessed to be able to spend her last years of her life in her beloved Callahan. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daryn Lucas, Jason Conner, Travis Schwend, Byron Shook, Jonathan Shook, Caleb Gressman, Anthony Lucas, Joshua Schwend and Grant Gressman. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Callahan, FL on Friday, November 19 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. A celebration of Mrs. Schwend's life will be on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery, Callahan.
