Individual Note:
     In 1767 they appointed Oliver Hart, pastor of Charleston First Baptist Church, and Francis Pelot, pastor of the Euhaw Baptist Church, to "draw up a system of Discipline agreeable to Scripture, to be used by the Churches."

Among those "seals" of his ministry were people like Francis Pelot, who served as pastor of the Euhaw church until his death in 1774, when Hart wrote in his diary, "I have lost the best friend and counselor I ever was blest with in the world; the most intimate friendship had existed betwixt us for about four and twenty years."

     JAMES GIGNILLIAT, JR. Esq. 55. He was born 26 Feb. 1767 and died 2 Dec. 1806 in his 40th year, and buried at Contentment Bluff, the family plantation just north of Darien. He was a planter of McIntosh County, Ga., the son of James and Charlotte (Pepper) Gignilliat of St. Helena's Parish, Beaufort District, S.C., and McIntosh County, Ga. He served as justice of the Inferior Court, McIntosh Co., and in 1802-04 as Georgia State Senator. 56

     Sarah married (2) , as his 2nd wife, 13 July 1809, the Rev. William McWhitt, Presbyterian minister, officiating, Captain JAMES NEPHEW, son of Peter and Susannah (Cooper, nee Marion) Nephew. He died at Darien, Ga., 2 Feb. 1827 in his 67th year, and was buried in a walled cemetery at Contentment Bluff. An urn-topped obelisk contains an inscription stating that he was an elder of the Darien Presbyterian Church and "was distinguished for his great energy of character, unsullied integrity, and enlarged benevolences". His life bore ample testimony that in the Revolution he was a Patriot and Christian".

     BRADDOCK Elsie - Braddock, 74, passed away May 30, 2005. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, she was a homemaker, a member of Grover Road Baptist Church, and was the pianist for many churches during her life, including, Grover Road Baptist Church, Heckscher Drive Baptist Church, and Dunn's Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Claude Nolan Braddock, daughter, Marsha Simpson, son Claude Braddock, sister, Sheila Hooper, grandchildren, Della, Denise, Darlene, Rene', and Ezekiel, greatgrandchildren, Sean, Stephanie, Alex, Tristan, and Calib. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 4, 2005, from 1:30 2:00 PM at Grover Road Baptist Church, with Funeral Services to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Jones Cemetery, Callahan. HardageGiddens Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Curtis Moore, Ronald Gleaton, Eric Gleaton, Anthony Adkins, Mike Cannady, and Ronald Land.
