Dear Barbara,

Of course, you're not TOO distant a cousin. We're all descended from the same ancestor. I guess that makes us "close kin". In case you don't know, I and several of the addressees are descendants of Robert Isaac Lang, another son of Isaac, Sr. It appears that Robert moved down to around Suwannee County, FL, (he is buried in Hamilton County) then the family line moved down to the Suwannee River in Dixie County. That's why I referred to us as the "Suwannee River Langs". There are bunch of us cousins whose fathers were born and reared on or near the river in the early 1900's. Apparently, with the family division way back there, the different branches lost touch. It's good to get back in together.

Thanks for sending the additional deeds. The implication here is that William Lang signed on behalf of Isaac's estate, and the other signers are Richard's own children or in-laws.

Apparently, you have done a lot of research, attempting to go right to the source material. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us. Lastly, I have not read the two publications that you mention. Are they still available? Any specific source? If you can help the rest of us neophytes in genealogy with anything that you feel would be interesting, please do not hesitate to forward it. Every little bit fills a gap.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Your cuz,

Spud Lang
